Oh yeah, Bryce told me that were I a wizard/witch in Hogwarts, I'd be in Hufflepuff. xD

  4. Is Jared Bryce?

(Sorry---somehow the two names seem connected, but I'm not sure why I think so, if I'm right or wrong.)

I don't know which house I would be in. Most people would think I'm a Ravenclaw, easily, but most people don't see my Gryffindor or Slytherin side----I think I have a tendency to be a bit of all three.

  5. Jah, Bryce ish he. 8D

I don't know much about Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff--all I'm told is that Ravenclaw is for smarties and Hufflepuff is the extras/nice people. Then you've got the brave, lion-hearted Gryffindor house (how Ron got in, I have NO idea, and Hermoine too, because she's such a smart noodle) I figure Slytherin house is full of assholes/rich people/pure-blooded sorcerers, but there could be other factors.

So, I could definetly see you in Ravenclaw or Gryffindor, but as for Slytherin, I think it would have to depend on your breeding and status (which is a stupid way to determine your house).

  6. Yeah---I bet if I were a wizard, I wouldn't be full-blood or rich---it'd be hard for me to get into Slytherin, but other half-bloods/poor people have done it. Snape and Voldemort did!

Sometimes I think I'm the least moral person I know.

And wait, have you never read the series? (You said you don't know much about Ravenclaw, which gave me the impression you haven't.)

  7. I know FOR SURE that I read The Order of the Phoenix, but as for the other ones, I haven't really. I think I may have read The Sorcerer's Stone (GAWD, that sounds so old now), but I don't remember it.

So, what is the rubric for getting into the houses? I only know the general things, but not the details.

  8. You must read the series!!!!!!!!

In a nutshell: Ravenclaws are smart, Gryffindors are brave and loyal, Hufflepuffs are bland but noble, and Slytherins are mean/bigots.

But, you don't have to meet all or any of the criteria to get into a specific house---all you have to do is ask the Sorting Hat to put you into a certain house. At the end of book 7, it's implied that Hogwarts may get rid of houses since it divides wizards and book 7 is all about ceasing division, becoming a community, and all.

That's why Harry got into Gryffindor---he could easily have gone into Slytherin cuz he was a Parseltongue, possessed a piece of Voldemort inside him, etc. And, in my opinion, in the beginning of book 1, he could easily have gone into Hufflepuff, as well. Instead, he hoped to go to Gryffindor (since Ron wanted to be there); so he did.

  9. I would read the series, since the book is ALWAYS better than the movie, but I ish lazy and don't feel like buying a giant book. xD I've got so many other things to read for school, I can't squeeze any pleasure reading in thar. xDD

So, the Sorting Hat doesn't really do anything--it just puts you somewhere if you don't know where you want to go, pretty much?

  10. This is probably debatable, but I think most people would agree that the Sorting Hat puts you wherever you want, if you consciously ask it, "Hey, put me in this house." Or, "Don't put me in this house." (In book 1, Harry whispers, "Not Slytherin, not Slytherin." The Sorting Hat replies something like, "Not Slytherin, eh? Well, if you're sure... GRYFFINDOR!"

So, I think it'll sort you according to your personality/strengths, but, if you ask it to put you someplace else, your request will act as an override to its original decision.
